A lot of misery in client-designer relationships is caused by clients not knowing how their work is done, who it is done by, and what is involved in doing it. Designers often think that by sheltering clients from the often untidy business of design, they are streamlining the relationship. In fact, the opposite is true. By exposing clients to our processes, by being transparent in the way we operate on their behalf, we build a climate of trust and understanding.
